About Us
HIRETECH CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT (PTY) Ltd is owned by David Johnston, who has been in the industry since 1986. In 1991, he founded his first small plant company, which he later sold in 2005. Following this, he established HIRETECH to focus on compressor rentals and entered into a partnership with ISELULA CRUSHING (PTY) Ltd to provide crushing and screening services. Today, both companies are recognized as major players in the local industry.
Over the years, HIRETECH has experienced significant growth, expanding beyond air compressors to include access lifts, sit-on and walk-behind rollers, rammers, reversible compaction plates, and concrete saws. Due to the rapid growth in demand for access lifts, we established a separate company, City Access Hire (PTY) Ltd, specializing exclusively in a wide range of access lift solutions. Additionally, the company introduced CRACK-IT to its sales lineup. To maintain competitive pricing while ensuring high-quality offerings, HIRETECH has invested in extensive research, enabling the direct import of premium products that provide excellent value for money.
Currently, the company imports a diverse range of equipment from six international suppliers, including air compressors, breakers, rock drills, air hoses, rammers, walk-behind rollers, sit-on rollers, concrete saws, and Crack-It. Every imported product is rigorously tested within the company’s rental fleet to ensure suitability and durability for local conditions. HIRETECH also maintains a full inventory of spare parts to support its rental operations, ensuring optimal equipment performance.
Recognizing a market gap due to stricter bank lending policies—particularly for lower-cost machinery—HIRETECH launched HIRE2BUY, a highly successful initiative that has gained widespread popularity. Today, 95% of the company’s business comes from repeat customers, many of whom have been loyal since 1986. This is a testament to the exceptional service, dedicated team, and high-quality products that define HIRETECH.
